Cookie Policy
We use cookies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, and understand how you use Cluenex. You have full control over non-essential cookies. No advertising cookies. Ever.
Cookies are small files that help websites work correctly and improve over time.
Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They allow the website to recognize your device on subsequent visits, remember your preferences, and understand how you use the site.
In addition to traditional cookies, Cluenex also uses similar technologies including:
- Local Storage: A browser-based storage mechanism that allows us to persist your platform preferences (such as chart settings and watchlist layout) across sessions without expiry.
- Session Storage: Similar to local storage but cleared when you close your browser tab. Used for temporary application state during a single session.
- Pixel Tags / Web Beacons: Small transparent images embedded in emails that help us understand whether transactional emails were opened and whether links were clicked. Used only for transactional emails, not for advertising.
- Browser Fingerprinting (limited): Certain device and browser characteristics may be used for security purposes to detect anomalous access patterns and potential account compromise. Not used for tracking or advertising.
All of these technologies are referred to collectively as "cookies" in this policy unless otherwise specified.
Four categories. You control three. One is non-negotiable.
We use cookies in the following categories. Essential cookies cannot be disabled as they are required for the platform to function. All other categories can be managed through your Cookie Preferences in account settings.
Some cookies last one session. Others persist across visits.
Cookies can be classified by their lifespan on your device:
Most cookies on Cluenex are first-party. Third-party cookies are minimal and purposeful.
First-party cookies are set directly by Cluenex (cluenex.com) on your device. They can only be read by Cluenex and are not accessible to other websites. The vast majority of cookies on Cluenex are first-party.
Third-party cookies are set by external services that we have integrated with to provide platform functionality. We limit third-party cookies strictly to what is necessary for the service to function. Specifically:
- We do not allow any advertising networks, data brokers, or analytics companies to set third-party tracking cookies on Cluenex
- We do not use Facebook Pixel, Google Ads tags, LinkedIn Insight tags, or similar advertising tracking pixels
- Third-party cookies are limited to Stripe (payment security) and our privacy-focused analytics provider (anonymized usage data only)
Only two trusted third parties set cookies on Cluenex.
The following third-party services may set cookies or similar identifiers on your device when using Cluenex. These are governed by their own privacy policies, which we link to below.
__stripe_mid, __stripe_sid (fraud prevention and session security). These cookies do not track your browsing across other sites. Stripe's privacy policy: stripe.com/privacy.You have multiple ways to control cookies. We respect your choices.
You can manage your cookie preferences in several ways:
| Browser | Cookie Management | Private Mode | Supported DNT |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chrome | chrome://settings/cookies | Incognito Mode (Ctrl+Shift+N) | Yes (in settings) |
| Firefox | Privacy & Security Settings | Private Window (Ctrl+Shift+P) | Yes (enabled by default) |
| Safari | Preferences → Privacy | Private Window (Cmd+Shift+N) | Yes (Prevent Cross-Site Tracking) |
| Edge | edge://settings/privacy | InPrivate Window (Ctrl+Shift+N) | Yes (in settings) |
| Opera | opera://settings/privacy | Private Window (Ctrl+Shift+N) | Yes (in settings) |
We honor Do Not Track signals for analytics cookies.
Do Not Track (DNT) is a browser preference signal that you can enable to request that websites not track your browsing activity across sites. When Cluenex detects a DNT signal from your browser, we will automatically disable analytics cookies for your session.
However, there is currently no universal standard for how all websites should respond to DNT signals. Our commitment:
- We respect DNT signals by disabling non-essential analytics tracking when DNT is enabled
- Essential cookies that are required for platform function are not affected by DNT signals, as they do not track behavior across sites
- We never use cross-site tracking regardless of DNT status — Cluenex analytics is limited to activity on our own platform only
- Our analytics provider does not track users across websites and respects DNT signals at the provider level as well
To enable Do Not Track in your browser, consult your browser's privacy settings. In most browsers, DNT can be enabled in Settings → Privacy & Security.
Essential cookies require no consent. Optional cookies require your permission.
Our use of cookies is governed by the following legal bases:
- Essential cookies are set based on our legitimate interest in providing a functional, secure Service as agreed in our Terms of Use. No consent is required for strictly necessary cookies under ePrivacy and GDPR guidelines.
- Analytics and preference cookies are set based on your consent. When you first access Cluenex, you will be presented with a cookie consent banner where you can accept or decline optional categories. You can change your preferences at any time in account settings or by clearing cookies and revisiting the site.
- For users in the EEA and UK, our cookie consent mechanism complies with the requirements of the EU ePrivacy Directive, GDPR, and the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
- Withdrawing consent for optional cookies will not affect your ability to use the core Service, though some features (like persistent preferences) will be limited.
Records of your consent decisions are stored with a timestamp and can be reviewed or updated at any time through your account's Privacy settings.
We will notify you when we update our cookie practices.
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time as our technology, legal requirements, or cookie usage evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and display a notice in the cookie consent banner prompting you to review the updated policy and re-confirm your preferences.
Significant changes — such as adding new cookie categories or new third-party cookies — will be communicated to you proactively before the changes take effect. We will not retroactively apply changes that expand cookie usage without giving you the opportunity to review and consent.
We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we use cookies.
