help_outline1. What Are Cookies & Similar Technologies

Cookies are small files that help websites work correctly and improve over time.

Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They allow the website to recognize your device on subsequent visits, remember your preferences, and understand how you use the site.

In addition to traditional cookies, Cluenex also uses similar technologies including:

  • Local Storage: A browser-based storage mechanism that allows us to persist your platform preferences (such as chart settings and watchlist layout) across sessions without expiry.
  • Session Storage: Similar to local storage but cleared when you close your browser tab. Used for temporary application state during a single session.
  • Pixel Tags / Web Beacons: Small transparent images embedded in emails that help us understand whether transactional emails were opened and whether links were clicked. Used only for transactional emails, not for advertising.
  • Browser Fingerprinting (limited): Certain device and browser characteristics may be used for security purposes to detect anomalous access patterns and potential account compromise. Not used for tracking or advertising.

All of these technologies are referred to collectively as "cookies" in this policy unless otherwise specified.

category2. Types of Cookies We Use

Four categories. You control three. One is non-negotiable.

We use cookies in the following categories. Essential cookies cannot be disabled as they are required for the platform to function. All other categories can be managed through your Cookie Preferences in account settings.

timer3. Session vs Persistent Cookies

Some cookies last one session. Others persist across visits.

Cookies can be classified by their lifespan on your device:

bolt
Session Cookies
Temporary cookies that are deleted automatically when you close your browser. These are used for your active login session, CSRF tokens, and temporary application state. They do not accumulate on your device over time. Most of Cluenex's security cookies are session-based.
calendar_month
Persistent Cookies
Remain on your device for a defined period after your browser session ends. We use persistent cookies to remember your login state (so you don't have to re-enter credentials each visit), your platform preferences, and anonymous analytics identifiers. Our persistent cookies have a maximum lifespan of 12 months, after which they expire and are re-set upon your next visit.
share4. First-Party vs Third-Party Cookies

Most cookies on Cluenex are first-party. Third-party cookies are minimal and purposeful.

First-party cookies are set directly by Cluenex (cluenex.com) on your device. They can only be read by Cluenex and are not accessible to other websites. The vast majority of cookies on Cluenex are first-party.

Third-party cookies are set by external services that we have integrated with to provide platform functionality. We limit third-party cookies strictly to what is necessary for the service to function. Specifically:

  • We do not allow any advertising networks, data brokers, or analytics companies to set third-party tracking cookies on Cluenex
  • We do not use Facebook Pixel, Google Ads tags, LinkedIn Insight tags, or similar advertising tracking pixels
  • Third-party cookies are limited to Stripe (payment security) and our privacy-focused analytics provider (anonymized usage data only)

Only two trusted third parties set cookies on Cluenex.

The following third-party services may set cookies or similar identifiers on your device when using Cluenex. These are governed by their own privacy policies, which we link to below.

payments
Stripe — Payment Processing
Stripe sets cookies for fraud detection, payment security, and to ensure secure checkout sessions. These cookies are essential for payment processing and cannot be disabled without preventing subscription sign-up. Stripe is PCI-DSS Level 1 compliant. Cookies set: __stripe_mid, __stripe_sid (fraud prevention and session security). These cookies do not track your browsing across other sites. Stripe's privacy policy: stripe.com/privacy.

Analytics Provider — Usage Analysis
We use a privacy-focused, self-hosted analytics tool that does not track users across websites, does not build cross-site profiles, respects Do Not Track browser signals, and anonymizes all IP addresses before storage. No personal identifiers are sent to the analytics provider. All data is used solely to understand aggregate usage patterns and improve the platform. You may opt out of analytics cookies through your Cookie Preferences in account settings.
settings6. How to Control & Manage Cookies

You have multiple ways to control cookies. We respect your choices.

You can manage your cookie preferences in several ways:

tune
Cluenex Cookie Preferences
The most convenient way. Log in to your account, go to Settings → Privacy → Cookie Preferences. You can toggle analytics cookies and preference cookies on or off. Changes take effect immediately. Essential cookies cannot be disabled here as they are required for the Service to function.

Browser Settings
You can configure your browser to block or delete all cookies. Note that blocking essential cookies will prevent you from logging into Cluenex and using most features. Each browser's cookie settings work differently — see the table below for guidance on major browsers.
extension
Browser Extensions
Third-party browser extensions such as Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin, or similar tools can block certain cookies and tracking technologies. These operate independently of Cluenex and may block both essential and non-essential cookies, potentially affecting platform functionality.
Browser Cookie Management Private Mode Supported DNT
Chrome chrome://settings/cookies Incognito Mode (Ctrl+Shift+N) Yes (in settings)
Firefox Privacy & Security Settings Private Window (Ctrl+Shift+P) Yes (enabled by default)
Safari Preferences → Privacy Private Window (Cmd+Shift+N) Yes (Prevent Cross-Site Tracking)
Edge edge://settings/privacy InPrivate Window (Ctrl+Shift+N) Yes (in settings)
Opera opera://settings/privacy Private Window (Ctrl+Shift+N) Yes (in settings)
do_not_disturb7. Do Not Track (DNT) Signals

We honor Do Not Track signals for analytics cookies.

Do Not Track (DNT) is a browser preference signal that you can enable to request that websites not track your browsing activity across sites. When Cluenex detects a DNT signal from your browser, we will automatically disable analytics cookies for your session.

However, there is currently no universal standard for how all websites should respond to DNT signals. Our commitment:

  • We respect DNT signals by disabling non-essential analytics tracking when DNT is enabled
  • Essential cookies that are required for platform function are not affected by DNT signals, as they do not track behavior across sites
  • We never use cross-site tracking regardless of DNT status — Cluenex analytics is limited to activity on our own platform only
  • Our analytics provider does not track users across websites and respects DNT signals at the provider level as well

To enable Do Not Track in your browser, consult your browser's privacy settings. In most browsers, DNT can be enabled in Settings → Privacy & Security.

edit_note9. Changes to This Cookie Policy

We will notify you when we update our cookie practices.

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time as our technology, legal requirements, or cookie usage evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and display a notice in the cookie consent banner prompting you to review the updated policy and re-confirm your preferences.

Significant changes — such as adding new cookie categories or new third-party cookies — will be communicated to you proactively before the changes take effect. We will not retroactively apply changes that expand cookie usage without giving you the opportunity to review and consent.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we use cookies.
