Buybacks

A company buying its own shares, so each remaining share owns more of the business.

Why it matters

Done below fair value, buybacks are a great use of cash. Done at any price, they can waste money that could have grown the business.

How to read it

Look at shares outstanding over years: a falling count means buybacks are real, not just offsetting stock pay.
