FOMC (the Fed’s rate meeting)
The Federal Open Market Committee: the Fed group that sets the target for short-term interest rates, eight times a year.
Why it matters
Its decisions and statements move every market. The press conference after the 2:00 pm ET announcement often matters more than the decision itself.
How to read it
Markets usually price the decision in advance; surprises come from the guidance about the next meetings.
